About RavenStar
"The Raven ate some poetry out of my hand."
E.E.Williamson
Age-4
When our daughter was four years old, she rushed into our country kitchen in the Tennessee hills and proclaimed, "The Raven ate some poetry out of my hand." First of all, I thought that was incredibly profound. Secondly, I thought that was exceptional for a four-year-old. Thirdly, I made a note to remember that special phrase and to celebrate the budding author in the family. Here we are years later, and the inspiration has come home to roost.
Along with our daughter's magical and poetic contribution, the name RavenStar Publications is a fusion of the imagery of the Star tarot card and the power of writing, along with the magic of drawing symbolized by the inky color of the Raven and the quill pen. The Star, symbolized by this visual interpretation of the ancient Babylonian Goddess Ishtar, represents to me personally energy, enlightenment, contentment, charity, compassion, regeneration, and immortal beauty. Each book in the RavenStar portfolio is designed to uplift the human spirit and encourage a reverence for the natural world.
The written word has the potential to inspire, educate, inform, and initiate change. Drawing is one of humanity's greatest achievements, whether in charcoal, pencil, pen, or pastel. Shadow, line, signature, and form contribute to the magic.
Anne Severn Williamson offers her artistic creations to strengthen conservation initiatives and to deepen our collective understanding of one another.
